Palm Isle is a golf league for men with balls and a sense of humor that can read a website and follow basic instructions. We are a member only league located in Naples Florida. If you don’t have a ball sack large enough to smack your inner thighs when you walk, don’t apply because you do not possess the biological age, skills or manliness necessary to participate in this league.
MEMBERSHIP
2024 New Member Expectations
About a month before your start date on Nov 2, 2023, New Members will be assigned 6 tee times to establish a league handicap (*). If you complete the sixth round and practice the 5 Player Responsibilities, you get added to the league’s tee sheet and the roster. This means you will ‘turn green’ on the roster, and be sorted by your start date for inclusion in the season as a New Member after the next cut.
On January 5, 2024, for CUT #3, new members with tee times turn into Gold Members, however, any members still looking for their balls will be discarded like a smelly sack of dog poop on a hot summer day.

The “Players”
League Handicap
All current members are “Players” that control all their tee times and can add themselves and guests they play with to Open tee times year round on any day with an email before the deadline. The Palm Isle Golf League plays South Florida PGA Golf Pass courses from May 1st to October 31st each year and play at the Hibiscus Golf Club from November 1st to April 30th each year.
The Palm Isle Golf League has Winter Season “Players” and Alumni. All Palm Isle Golf League “Players” have tee time privileges during season (Nov – Apr) and qualify for March Madness including the annual Championship Tournament and The Final Four team competitions each year.
All Palm Isle Alumni (former players with a HDCP on record) can compete in March Madness if space is available until the day they die. Send your email request to play each year before February 15th to imieguy@gmail.com

HANDICAP FORMULA
Palm Isle League uses its own handicap system

Example
I played 16 rounds, had 1483 shots, so my calculation is as follows:
1483 divided by 16, minus 72 X .80 = 16.55 or 17 HDCP rounded

Follow Rule 12 for Bunkers
Hibiscus Golf Club has declared that all surfaces and sides of artificially surfaced roads and paths are immovable obstructions. Free drop from nearest point of complete relief (one-club length)
“Out of bounds” is defined by white stakes. The stroke-and-distance local rule is in effect for Palm Isle Golfers which allows “Players” that hit a ball out of bounds the option of dropping in the fairway if they so choose. Players find where their ball went out of bounds – even if the ball is lost – and create an imaginary perpendicular to the fairway, no closer to the hole. From there, you can now drop anywhere within two club-lengths behind the line. Example: If the tee shot was out of bounds, the next shot will be your fourth from the fairway. This rule speeds up play and saves you from going back to the tee box/last shot if you want.

CUT POLICY
The Palm Isle Golf League located in Naples, Florida is operated independently by a rag-tag collection of ad-hoc volunteers known historically as grandfathers in the United States of America.
Members may be cut from the Palm Isle Golf League at any time and for any reason under the sun by the Volunteers that operate this league with access to this website.
For example, if your shoe color choice contrasts with your shoe laces, or the belt you wear on a Monday Low Putt Game day is judged to be too small. Another example is wearing shirt or shoe graffiti with brand logos on Thursday Closest2Pin days. And there is a very long list of Cut reasons for Low Net competitions, too many to list here.
The bottom line is any Member or Prospect or Guest may be Cut from this league for any reason at any time.
If this policy is an issue for you, please don’t join or continue to play with us. We welcome your departure and will celebrate because Palm Isle is a golf league for men with balls and a sense of humor that can read a website and follow basic instructions.
